Top 5 Creative Groom’s Cakes

I have always been impressed with wedding cakes. They are very elegant and beautiful, just like their brides. But lately I have been seeing an explosion of creativity when it comes to the groom’s cake. With each wedding I photograph the groom’s cake gets more and more creative it seems; which makes me wonder where we will be a short year from now. Personally I think it is a wonderful idea to go for something unique and personal for the groom’s cake, it will mean so much more to you when you eat it look back at your special day :) So without further adieu, in no particular order, my recent top 5 groom’s cakes:

This particular groom was a chef and wanted to have a chef’s hat for his cake. Really neat!

Reed had a thing for football (soccer), even going so far as doing a few pictures in team jerseys for their engagement session.

This was from a recent wedding I blogged about yesterday, but still ranks up there as one of the best.

I am not sure I should even post this image, being an Austin resident now, but still it’s creative merit needs mention. So yes, if you are a long standing Austin resident, like the color burnt orange, or have a fondness for bovines with unusually long horns, then perhaps you should avert your eyes :) An Aggie Bonfire grooms cake.

Last but not least, and perhaps my favorite still after all these months since seeing it, the beer bottle bucket wedding cake!!!

September 23, 2009 - 8:55 am Partease - All amazing... my fave is the beer cake! Such great detail in that bucket. I wonder where you would begin cutting that cake though :)

September 23, 2009 - 12:58 pm YoYo - Guess which one I hate?

September 23, 2009 - 1:10 pm Eric - Partease, If I recall, they removed the bottles and handed them to the Groom for "cleaning", then took off the gelatin ice cubes and then dug on in. Collin, HA! That's no surprise considering your new daughter won't get to live in a pink bedroom, but a UT shrine :) I'll be sure to show you my first UT themed cake as soon as I get to taste photograph it.

September 23, 2009 - 2:54 pm Melinda Ledsome - LOVE these!!! I have to agree that the Shiner cake is amazing! I love that it even has realistic ice cubes! great shots!

April 15, 2010 - 1:18 pm Petr - I'd like to get the beer cake like birthday cake! One year would be one bottle... (I'm 29 bottles old).
